tubes...

isn't he funny?! we have discussed the possibility of tubes for months now. after several ear infections and constant fluid in his ears, we finally got a referral for a specialist. it just so happened that we had an appointment last tuesday with the ear doctor. canon woke up early tuesday morning screaming and wouldn't lay down. he was also running a fever. last time that happened, he was cutting teeth. by the time we got to the doctor, his fever was 103.7. he was so pitiful. all he did that day was sleep on me. he wouldn't let me put him down. i hated that he felt awful, but i did enjoy his cuddling now that he is on the go ALL the time! sure enough both ears were infected so the doctor was quick to say that with his history he would greatly benefit from tubes. they scheduled it for early this morning.

all that to say, we arrived at the hospital at 5:45. he was in a great mood. while we waited in the waiting room, he entertained us!

this is his "say cheese" face...

lane asked for a kiss and leaned in. canon coughed on his mouth!
they took us back to a room. as soon as the nurse started taking his vitals and messing with him, he freaked out. no pain involved, just fear.

he is roaring like a tiger in his cool tiger gown...

by this point, they had given him some versed to make him relax and forget. he was sooo relaxed...and funny. watch the video at the end for some loopy canon!

from the time they took him until the doctor came back out, it was like 13 minutes. i was amazed at how fast it was. no pictures from recovery due to a certain little boy completely flipping out. i'm pretty sure they let us go earlier than what is typical! when we got in the car, he was very thirsty. he's usually a sipper, but he drank without stopping for 15 minutes.

then he dosed off! we're on our second nap since being home. he was wobbily on his feet at first, but besides acting tired, he's doing well. his ear's are still infected, but they gave us some ear drops and they sucked out the infection while in there! hopefully, this will help him this winter. he's such a good, little sick boy!

Glad to hear that Canon did really well with them putting the tubes in this morning (even with the occasional flipping out). Hopefully that will take care of the ear infections so that he can continue being on the go all the time.

I hope those tubes do the trick! It's not fun having sick kids! Joshua has been home sick all week. He will hopefully go back to school tomorrow.

So cute video of Canon after the versed. I wish I would've thought to have a video of Erin when she went in. She was hilarious.
