5k training...

so i've made a huge commitment...running a 5k! it's not until june, but why not start now and actually get in shape. i've never exercised. i have no will power. no desire. no endurance. i am soooo out of shape! people comment on me being thin, but there is such a difference in being thin and not being in shape. i wish i was one of those people where working out was not an option. like brushing your teeth. well, i am making a choice to make activity a part of our life style.

i can't seem to get motivated on my own so i looped lane into doing it with me!! my friend, amy, had a couch-to-5k running plan on her blog. the good thing about this plann is it's just 3 days a week for 30 minutes. that's got to help cut down on burnout. we started it yesterday...yikes. i was sucking major air! lane is in such better shape. i mean he's a rip-stick pro! the last 2 days, we've gone up to the church gym when lane gets off. that way canon can run around and i can do my thing. lane runs some with me and mainly chases canon around. it helps so much just knowing he's there with me. this week just consists of run/walk intervals. i'm so anxious to start seeing endurance results as well as physical results. i've got about 15 pounds to lose to get to pre-baby weight, and lots of toning to do!! i'm praying that i will stay excited about this and when i'm not excited, that i persevere.

i have no athletic wear at all. i used to be queen of sweat pants, and somehow i don't own a single pair anymore. so today, i took my birthday money/gift cards and went shopping. i'm telling you, birthday money is the gift that doesn't stop giving...yet. i bought a few pairs of shorts, a pair of yoga pants, a new package of socks, a sports bra, and a package of t-shirts. i'm so excited. i think in my head that looking the part will help?!

so here's to the start of my running career...

Way to go! I've never exercised before either...would probably be good for me to do something like this after August.

I ran my first 5K in May last year. I used that couch to 5K running plan to train myself too. It is a good one. Now that I had surgery, I'm looking forward to doing it again this summer. I should have a faster time this time. I had always been in pretty good shape until I got married, then having 4 babies on top of that. Now, it has been a lot easier for me to get in shape and I plan on staying this way.

You go girl! I am super impressed! Keep it up! I know you won't believe me, but it gets WAY easier! I ran a ton in college and then kind of stopped when we got married. Then I started running and couldn't even run a full lap at the track! I ran 3.5 miles on Monday and and running 3.5 miles today! Before long you will be too!
