best.fourth.ever...

first off, i've been an awful blogger lately. i just haven't wanted to do it, plus we've been out of town so much. anyways, i apologize and i'll try harder! this was seriously the best 4th of july! i like the holiday, but don't LOVE it. this year, it just felt like the perfect summer day. we spent the weekend in muskogee with lane's family. sunday, we got up extra early (after mr. ledger only allowed me 2 1/2 hours of sleep) to drive to tulsa for church then made the short drive back afterwards. ledger, lane and i all took naps while canon played outside with his pops. no idea why he refused a nap. i never turn a nap down! that evening, we headed to my mom's for a cookout and fireworks, along with lane's parents.
chloe made cute place cards...
we had delicious hamburgers, beans, corn on the cob, potato salad, and chips. mom made cute little individual cheesecakes with, of course, blue and red berries!
isn't he ferocious looking?!
it was an amazing evening to be outside...at least in muskogee! i heard it rained in tulsa. we had so much fun playing outside. my mom has an awesome swingset that canon's finally old enough to enjoy.

popping bubbles...
chloe and i had so much fun jumping out of the swing. i hadn't done that in years! on my last jump, i hesitated, and some how hung on, but in the process tore my thumb up. it was a bloody mess.

canon thinks you blow bubbles with your nose...
ok...we discovered canon's just as much a pyro as his dad! he LOVED lighting to spinning blossoms and other "little" fireworks. just for the record, i was a nervous wreck while they did their thing!

ledger just wanted to eat the fireworks...

canon couldn't make the poppers pop by throwing them so he stomped on them...

when it started getting dark, we packed up and headed over to a park close to my mom's house. it sits on a hill and you can see all of muskogee. it was the perfect place to watch the big fireworks. the boys loved it, and so did we. it felt AMAZING out!
ledger sat in the trunk and played with toys...
canon ate cookies for awhile...
then he played with rocks...
and then he was so dead tired, he looked like this while bathing.

i'm so thankful for the break from the norm, and time spent with our families. i'm also thankful for the freedom we have in our country, but was reminded by a quote that we are citizens of another kingdom.

"
Let's live for the gospel to spread to all nations more than we long to be safe, secure, & satisfied in our own nation. -David Platt"
