typical christmas eve...

our christmas vacation actually started on tuesday of that week when we headed to muskogee. we had some much needed down time and got to spend lots of time with my mom and sisters. we look forward to the last 2 weeks of the year all year! there was lots of cooking and eating and shopping done.
on wednesday afternoon, ledger started running a fever. it hung out at 102+ and by thursday afternoon had gotten to 105.3. meds and a lukewarm bath brought it down pretty quickly, but it was still scary. bless his heart, he was a pitiful mess who just wanted to cuddle. when he woke up early christmas eve morning with 105.5, i knew it was time to see a doctor. we figured it was the same fever virus canon had had 2 weeks prior, but wanted to make sure it wasn't something that needed antibiodics. last year on christmas eve, canon made a visit to urgent care for strep throat. even growing up, one of us were always sick during christmas!
everything around muskogee was closed as was our pediatricians office so my mom and i took him to an urgent care in tulsa. his fever was down at that point. they did a chest xray and flu swab, but determined it was just a virus. that night we went to christmas eve service at boulevard. dawn came over to my mom's to stay with ledger. i LOVE going to church that night! when we got home, we had a plethora of snack-y foods and treats, and just hung out. canon ate his weight in puppy chow and was on a major sugar high. at some point, ledger started breaking out in hives and his voice started sounding funny. we figured canon had given him a piece of puppy chow that has peanut butter in it. lane left with his parents to get some benadryl i had left at their house. he was fine after that. darn, peanut sensitivity.

before bed, canon helped set out a cookie for santa and write him a note. he loved picking out stickers for him. santa's helpers got busy and turned in. i swear i couldn't fall asleep for anything. i was 10 all over again!

christmas is so much more fun with kids! i mean, i know jesus is the real reason for the season, but even knowing that, kids just make it better! :)
