weekend celebrations...

this past weekend was full of fun! on friday night, we had a babysitter lined up. lauren and kyle were supposed to fly in and we were going to go out on a double date. i had been looking forward to this, but since they fly on standby, at the last minute they had to take a later flight. our babysitter ended up coming a bit earlier so we could still go out to dinner before we had to pick them up at the airport. i had my heart set on a hibachi, but it was a madhouse when we got there sans a reservation. somehow we ended up at red robin (where we've never been) because we figured it was the least popular on a friday night on the busy strip we were on! after burgers, we got coffee and headed to the airport and then home. we always love hanging out with l and k. lots of laughing! no pics.

saturday late morning,  my mom and chloe met us to celebrate my birthday! it was the kickoff of birthday week! we headed downtown to probably my favorite mexican restaurant. yum.

we headed back to the house for cake before lauren and kyle had to catch a flight back to dallas. aunt lala brought valentine cookies! the boys had a tough time choosing between cake and their cookies.

somehow over the past week, the boys became obsessed with the idea of my birthday and party whistles. i secretly passed on the info to lane. when we were at target on friday, he snuck them off to get a "surprise." they were so excited once they got to reveal the whistles!

they had each chosen a different package. these things have entertained them all weekend. LOVE cheap entertainment!

thanks for a fun time, guys! you always make me feel so special and loved!! happy birthday to me :)

saturday evening we got to go help celebrate our friend, brian's birthday. it was at this awesome,  vintage throwback bowling alley downtown. so cool. and so much fun being with friends! i should also mention this was my first time in 10 months to be apart from my littlest man. no worries, though, on my part because oomah and pops were holding down the fort at home!

isn't this awesome?! this was in the private party room.

it was a fun night out of the house!

that night about 10, i started feeling puny and it continued through the night. i sent the boys to church with lane. i know that adds stress to his already hectic morning, but i so appreciated being able to rest. knox and i took a 2 hour nap and then waited for the rest of our clan to get home. after lunch, i took another 2 hour nap. i remember when canon was 6 weeks old, i hit a major wall. i broke down one morning out of pure exhaustion. he sent me to muskogee (he was working :)) for the night/day so i could sleep and let grandmas take care of canon. i was refreshed and fine after that. i wondered if that wasn't a bit of what this was. after not sleeping more than 3 hour increments for the past 5 weeks and taking care of the big boys on top of that, my body was just running on fumes. needless to say, i feel good and revived :)

i forgot to mention that knox had his tongue clipped on friday afternoon. when the pediatrician told us he was tongue-tied, we jumped at getting a referral for the clipping. after what we went through with the delays in doing canons, we didn't want to risk it. canon had his done at 35 months and had to be put under. knox was going to be able to do it in the office with no meds. he said he would cry, but not because of pain. just because the doctor's hands would be in his mouth. as soon as he clipped it and removed his hands, he said he would stop crying right away. it literally happened just like that! hardly any blood and no tears after the fact. we're thankful that's taken care of! lane wanted me to plug how much we LOVE our pedi ENT. if you're in the market, let me know!
