crazy that my BABY is now 4! i'm such a sap around the boys' birthdays. i definitely had a harder time with canon turning 4 than 3. we were leaving for camp on his actual birthday, but wanted to do some things at home with him first. my mom ALWAYS decorated the outside of our room with streamers the night before our birthday. it's one of my most favorite traditions that i knew i wanted to do for my kids. i loved watching his face when he saw them. he was SO excited that it was his birthday. he climbed up in bed with lane and said REALLY loudly, "it's my birthday!"
i hung up his name banner from his party and set out all of his cards and his present from us the night before. he was super ready to open it. his sweet facial expressions as he's opening it makes my heart smile! when i saw this gift at PBK on major sale, i knew it was made for my boy. it incorporated all of his loves...popsicles, rocketships, and projects/activities! this boy always needs to be doing something.
special pancakes with sprinkles! he even got to eat them with his hands. you know it's a special day when that happens!
he's SUPER EXCITED to be 4!
on our way out of town for camp, we stopped at chick-fil-a for lunch. when we pulled in, i noticed the marquee said, "it's jonah's birthday. tell him happy birthday and get a free ice cream cone." nice! this made the boys super happy! canon told him happy birthday then told him it was his birthday, too. jonah gave him one of those stuffed cows. canon was so proud!
we then ran into target to get his "surprise". lane has been saying for a month now that he wanted him to have the muppets movie (btw, it may just be replacing "that thing you do" after 3 months!). i totally dropped the ball and realized the night before that i forgot to get it so we played up the whole "getting to go pick up the surprise" act! while canon and i were waiting to pay, i looked at my phone and realized it was the exact time that he was born. when i told him, he was now officially 4, he gave me the biggest smile and hug. it was a moment i never want to forget. just like, i'll never forget the moment on may 29th, 2008 at 1:39pm when i first laid my eyes and hands on the sweetest baby boy. such a happy day :)
