lane's birthday was saturday so we kicked off the festivities on friday night with a movie date to finally see batman at the imax. we LOVE batman! sadly, i didn't pay attention to the majority of it. i couldn't handle the intensity of the gun fight scenes and the reality of what happened in colorado last month. every time someone would walk in or out, i would freak inside. i didn't let go of lane's arm the entire time. i was a mess! needless to say, i did enjoy being out with my husband. we didn't have time for dinner so we dined on popcorn and icees. i can't go to the movie without a coke icee!
our sweet babysitter, michelle, held down the fort at home. she leaves for ozark this week and we are so happy for her, but sad that she won't be as easily available to babysit. the boys LOVE her! they watched "veggietales:pirates that don't do anything" on netflix and then recreated it!

saturday morning, the boys and i let the birthday boy sleep in. he slept until almost 10! i don't think my body would let me sleep that long if i had the opportunity. canon pretty much stays in character. as soon as he gets up, he's someone new. this picture of my 3 little guys just makes my heart smile. i'm so very thankful that they love each other like they do!
once lane came to, we headed outside to soak up some of the incredible weather we've been having. it's so nice to walk outside and not feel like your skin is going to melt off! this coming weekend, the highs are in the 80's! LOVE the changing of seasons (i realize it's still august!).

after we got cleaned up, we had a couple of errands to run. while we were at best buy, lane picked out a couple of $7.99 blu-rays. he always wants so many movies that it's hard for me to narrow them down. he'd prefer to pick them out himself! we stopped downtown for "birthday lunch". the boys were SO excited! we were laughing about the fact that they are totally on board for whatever as long as you make it sound special and give it a cool name!
we all took a long nap while lane worked on his sermon. once everyone was up, we piddled around before meeting my mom and chloe at the cheesecake factory for dinner. we don't love their food or their too big menu, but lane's favorite dessert is cheesecake and that's the place to go for it! my mom brought the boys some new superhero notebooks and markers to entertain them. we ended up sitting on the patio at the end table. it felt amazing outside and the boys had lots of room to hang out. after waiting for our food for an hour, our waitress realized she had forgotten to submit our order. we didn't mind because the manager came over to tell us that we could have free dessert for all! score!!
the boys made these cards on thursday while lane was at work. it was fun to hear their answers and see their drawings of lane!
we've had a low-key sunday. lane preached in big church this morning. we all took naps this afternoon. we played this evening. we put the boys to bed at 8 and canon is still going strong. geez. guess it's time to take the 'ol nap away. here's ledgie and his friend, hope (a.k.a hopie) in their sweet fish glasses at church this morning!
