i'm going to have to break our trip to disney up into days. between kyle and i's cameras, we took over 1000 pictures! yikes...a scrapbooker's worst nightmare having to decide which one's are worthy of the golden book! and these are also going to be overly long and very detailed, but it's kind of a scrapbook itself, and i like to remember details!
we left last sunday the 10th. it took me the whole day saturday to pack for 3 people. we barely fit into 2 large suitcases...without baby food and diapers! my mom picked up canon and i, along with kyle and lauren, at 1030 that morning. good thing we allowed ourselves a good 2 hours before our flight took off! we were barely out of the apartment parking lot when we had our first missed exit. my mom has been to our house a hundred times! we then preceded to turn around 2 more times before arriving at the airport. i guess she was anxious to get there! i hate flying and was a nervous wreck. checking our bags kind of stressed me out, too. suddenly, there were a lot of people in line, canon was screaming, the lady wasn't overly kind, and lauren's bag was overweight. i'll throw going through security in there, too. i had to take canon's shoes off, as well as mine, get the baby food and drinks out so they could test them, get the stroller on the conveyer belt...it wore me out! i found i wasn't a great airport traveler! lane got there 45 minutes after we did, and we soon boarded...
after a lay over in houston, we made it to orlando at 7 that night. of course, what would be a trip with us if we didn't have to turn around and go to the complete other side of the airport to find our bus. disney offers transportation to and from the airport and on the grounds so we didn't rent a car. when we first boarded we were the only ones on, but we ended up waiting like half an hour for others to come...
once we arrived at our hotel, check-in took FOREVER! the girl was so sweet and very beautiful but didn't understand english very well. i was trying to get a bench for one of the shower's and she kept telling the housekeeping manager i needed a "brench." at about 930, we were checked in and starving so we caught our first disney bus to downtown disney. we had never been there. it had really neat shops and things to do outside. we ate at the rainforest cafe. the food wasn't great, but the atmosphere was fun! you'll find quickly that a lot of trip revolved around eating. thanks to kyle and his trusty unofficial disney book, we found pretty good places and were able to get reservations for most.
we decided not to pack diapers and baby food since it would take up so much room. lauren, kyle, and lane took a midnight cab ride with a dancing cabbie to the closest grocery store. to buy food for 6 days, the smallest package of diapers, and a case of water, the bill was $79! i was outraged. there selection was very picked over, but what they did have was way over-priced. i added up what it would have cost at wal-mart, and it shouldn't have been over $40. anyway, that about sums up the first day. oh, canon decided to cry all night, too. i felt so bad for kyle who was staying in our room. canon ended up sleeping with us all week. there was a huge lump in the middle of the pack-n-play mattress. hotel rooms are also too quiet i decided this week!
Great pictures of the trip there! $79??? WOW! I would have been upset too.
Okay get this, my first trip to the Rainforest Cafe...a guy in college asked me out. I wanted so bad to go out with this guy and when he told me that was where we were going I was so excited. The bill came and he said "You owe me $__!" CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? He asked me out! Then I paid my half, we went to the mall, and he bought $200 worth of clothes at Banana Republic. I WAS MAD!! He ended up singing at our wedding. :)
Oh ok...I thought by testing you meant they fed a bite to a monkey, and if the monkey didn't keel over, it was good...You have seen those monkies at the airport haven't you???

Sounds like a GREAT day 1!..Test the baby food??
they wipe each one down with a little indicator sheet then put the sheet in a machine that says if there is any bad stuff on the sheet...
