project day...

friday became project day. lane's been in the mood to work on "projects" which got me in the mood to work on projects!

the first project was personalizing a gift for ella. we got her a couple of dresses for her birthday...one was dressy and one was for play. the play one had a perfect blank spot on it for her name. i love personalized things! i got some iron-on letters at hobby lobby, and went to town. i think it turned out pretty cute :)

the second was two-fold. i have had this pot since we got married, and every year we plant flowers in it. it started out green, then was black, then got really scuffed up in one of the moves. so i spray painted it, and voila, good as new!!

the third one i've have in mind since we moved in. the house already had this nice heavy address plaque, but it was hunter green with brass...ugly. we changed the door hardware to satin nickel, painted the door red, and painted the shutters black. for the past 5 months this address plaque has clashed awfully with the rest of the house. i spray painted it black, and then got a silver paint pen to do the outlining. i got a finer one, too, to do the more intricate work, but it didn't work out at all. there's also a "B" on the top of the plaque so we're trying to come up with something to cover it and put our initial on it, but it already looks so much better, and you can actually see our number from the street. i always forget to take before pics of projects :(

i'm going to have to steal your address plate idea if you don't mind!! we painted our front door red and our shutters black too, and our address plaque is sage green with khaki. doesn't quite match!, lol... new project for me!
