check-ups and cousins...

this morning, the boys had their 2-year and 6-month checkups. my thinking was it would be easier overall if they can do them at the same time. let me just say, i'm so glad lane was able to come with us. i was not thinking about 2 babies getting shots and would each need comforting arms to hold them afterwards...whew.
canon went first and has been known in the past to start crying if the dr. just says hi. thankfully, he seems to have outgrown that, and was an angel. he's such a little charmer. it started at the check-in desk, moved to the nurses station, and ended with the nurse practitioner. he got to weigh on the big boy scale this time. he weighed a whopping 20lb 9 0z! we're just glad he's officially broken the 20lb mark. he's still below the <3>
first of all, let me just say how much i love our nurse practitioner. she has been wonderful over the past 2 years. she knows her stuff, and is so personable and sweet with the boys and myself. well, boo, she's moving in 2 weeks. we LOVE our doctor's office and have nothing but great things to say about it. our doctor is also incredible, but she's missing the wow factor that miss jodi has.
anyway, i was anxious to say what she would say about his speech. she wasn't too concerned with his 10 word vocabulary since he knows everything you ask him and makes "noises" all the time. we told her we had a friend in muskogee that's a speech pathologist that we wanted to evaluate him and she said that's a good resource for some exercises. since all his blood work came back good, they're not too worried about his size either, especially now that he has a mouth full of teeth and is eating much better! she did hear a heart murmur that they've never heard before so she's sending us next week for an echo. she says she's sure its benign, but just to be safe. he didn't cry once while she was examining him...until he got a shot then he lost it!
ledger had a great check-up. he's still a hoss! he weighed 18lb 7oz (75%ile) and measured 27 1/2 inches (90%ile). he showed off all his tricks and flirted more subtlety. she couldn't believe how strong he was. examination was great. we started oatmeal a couple nights ago and he's not crazy about it, but he does like ice cream! we're supposed to start introducing veggies then fruit every 3-4 days. he got 2 shots, and didn't care for them. i'm so thankful for healthy babies. i felt guilty this afternoon thinking about all the sick babies out there and mamas who have to say good-bye to their kids. it breaks my heart. father, be with all the hurting families tonight.
this afternoon, ella came over to play for a little bit. she's staying with oomah and pops this week while her mom and dad are out of town. canon was so excited she was here. bless his little heart, he doesn't know what personal space is. he just kept wanting to hug her or give her a toy.
he was playing peek-a-boo with her. she didn't care...

now forcing ella to play...
can never have too many hugs from your big cousin...

Maddie was the same way when other kids came to play. She would hug them constantly. She also hugged her brother and sister--until they were purple.
