baby shower...

this afternoon, i helped throw a baby shower at our church for my friend, maggie! she grew up at highland park and her family still attends, but her and her husband now live in stigler and actually go to boulevard...small world :) its weird that we both know each others other circle of friends now. anyways, sweet baby hannah is set to make her debut in a few weeks, and i can't wait! i'm sure she'll give me the fever!!
since i was in charge of getting a cake, i also got to choose the "look" for the shower! my favorite!! there are so many cute things out there for girls that it made the choice difficult. i knew her bedding was bright and fun and the fact that it's summer, both helped my indecisive self.
since we never know how many to plan for, we end up getting a full sheet cake. i usually order it from sam's since they're reasonably priced and really good, but after my last encounter with them when they told me they couldn't do polka dots, i nixed them! i mean, who doesn't know how to do polka dots?? i may or may not have said, "you can't make blobs of icing?" beside the point...
i decided to try wal-mart, figuring they probably have the same recipe as sam's! when i called to order it, i told her i had a napkin i wanted them to go off. the lady told me when i could come in to get meet with the "decorator". fast forward to the next day, i met the so called "decorator" and honestly, wasn't impressed. she wasn't friendly and she kept saying, "so you just want flowers in these colors." and i kept saying, "i want the flowers/shapes to look like these." so after a couple times back and forth, i left it in her hands. scary...considering i'm overly matchy-matchy! today, i went to pick it up, and the same lady was finishing it up, and i was blown away! i kept telling how good of job she did and how much i loved it. it matched perfectly!! and for only $39. it was $5 more because it was considered a harder level of decorating. so worth it!

she racked up and got a lot of great things. i love, love baby showers. josh and maggie are going to be great parents, and we can't wait to meet that sweet baby girl!

*i just realized that i probably added a lot of unnecessary detail in this post (and probably all the rest too!)...sorry about that.

we're back in muskogee at my mom's this week. this is lane's last week away for awhile...thank you, jesus. i'm so tired of being gone and living out of a suitcase. i think i would've rather him been gone 3 weeks straight then be gone every other. it's made the past 5 weeks go by to fast because i've been looking forward to the end of them!! i have enjoyed spending time with our family, though :) they've been sweet to put up with us.

in other news, i have mastitis AGAIN. this is the third time in 7 months if you're keeping track. i felt fine thursday morning, but by that afternoon, i had the chills, body aches, fever, nausea, dizziness, and the ever so wonderful pain of the mastitis itself. finally, saturday evening, after not improving, i took myself to the urgent care for some antibiotics and pain meds. already i'm feeling much better, just worn completely out. tomorrow the boys are having a play day with oomah and pops so i can get some much needed rest.

i think that's about all for now! until next time :)
