our snow day...

i LOVE snow. and i may even LOVE snow days more. which is odd since a snow day doesn't really affect my normal day. until 2 weeks ago, snow days didn't even affect my children. canon was out of school today, and it only took 4 days of him being away from me to realize how great school is for him and me. nonetheless, after a rough start to the day, we ended up having a great, low-key day.

my most favorite (current) morning treat is cranberry-orange muffins from panera. so imagine how happy i was when i saw a boxed mix at walmart the other day. wanting something special and warm on this snowy morning, i made the muffins. yuck. yuck. and more yuck. the tasted like a big 'ol nasty fruit loop. too much orange for me. between the boys and lane though, they polished off 9 of those bad boys. yuck one (on a super cute coaster. thanks, shanna!)...

i caught the cleaning bug this morning and ran with it. amidst the room to room cleaning, i decided to put our old bedding on our wonderful guest bed...ha. since the blow-up bed is on the floor and has air under it, it's a freezing cold place to sleep. so now since we have an extra down comforter, i threw that on. the room looks a little more put together at least. i still need to grab a couple extra pillows for the shams.after my nap (2 hours, thankyouverymuch), lane and i decided coffee sounded divine. my coffee pot was in the middle of several vinegar cycles (told you i ran with the bug) so i was nominated to make a run to panera. i don't drive on winter weather roads, but i was brave and made it. i may or may not have come home with a real cranberry-orange muffin... yummy muffin and delicious hazelnut coffee...

canon and i made "birthday cupcakes" this afternoon. really i just look for an excuse to make sweets and not feel too guilty. i decided that my birthday week started today since we got snow. we also have some forecasted on sunday...eek! we started out with the plan to make tie-dye cupcakes, but after seeing how dark the food color gel is and it's staining capabilities, we landed on just making colored frosting...and sprinkles. sprinkles make everything better in canon's eyes!

tonight we played cooties. canon got it for christmas and this is the first time we pulled it out. he got the concept but quickly got bored by rolling for 6's to win the game. he'd say "-ick" and then roll. he won. i didn't. he's so much fun.
so is his little brother. ledger's pretty easy going, happy camper lately. he just plays with buzz or woody, books or his blankie. pretty content kid. he loves to read and brings us books all day. i love that he enjoys it so much. with canon, it was a pretty quick phase when he was ledgers age. just recently has he started enjoying books again. these are ledger's 2 favorite books, along with a toy story book not pictured. the "b is for bear" book was from santa and "i kissed a baby" is from lane's grammie to canon while i was pregnant. ledge loves them and is always looking at one of these 3.i've had such a fun day with my guys. lane's still not feeling well, but it was nice to just have him around. after the boys went to sleep, we watched "the office". i've been looking so forward to it coming back on and it didn't disappoint.

the past 3 evenings, i've itched liked crazy for hours, but last night i broke out in hives that didn't go away. today they spread and joined up with other ones. i've been itchy all night so i've been researching general doctors. we haven't had one since we've been here. i've just used urgent cares. we've been blessed to end up with such wonderful specialty doctors, but for some reason, it seems super scary to just pick a doctor with so many choices.

sorry i'm so long winded tonight :) night.

I had a "cootie" game when I was little! Fun game! And, oh, how I wish I lived close to a Panera. Yum! :)

Kelli, my mom and I go to Dr. Golderstern with OMNI medical group at St. John's. So far, she hasn't disappointed either of us. At times she is a little hard to get into but she has a great Nurse Practitioner that you can get in to see easily. I know she is on your insurance plan. ; )

Sorry the muffins were a huge disappoinment.

My kids love books, too. Do you have "How do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight"? My kids loved that book and Sandra Boynton books at that age. I had those and a couple of Dr. Suess books memorized. I could read and watch TV at the same time--no kidding.
