what we've been doing this weekend...

1) a whole lot of this...

third time's a charm, right?! this is our third go at this in 11 months. last year, he was clearly not ready after 1.5 weeks of misery and frustration. over spring break, we started again and he did well as long as i told him when to go. he NEVER would initiate it on his own. 3 months into this "norm", our pediatrician told us he needed to be re-trained to listen to his body's cues. great. about the same time, i went on bed rest and it was just easier to do diapers. bad mom, i know.

he starts school this next week and needs to be somewhat potty-trained so thursday was the day (that i had been dreading...seriously). we decided this time around to train him on the "big" potty instead of the frog potty so he would be familiar with the mini-porcelain potty at school. on wednesday, we went to walmart and got our potty training supplies! he was so excited. he is super cute when he stands on his stool like "daddy" and may even be cuter sitting on his elmo seat. he has his routine down pat...get stool, lift seat, do his business, put the seat down, flush, move his stool, and wash his hands. so independent.

he's done great. the first day he had 3 full-on accidents and 1 partial (finished on the potty). friday, he had 1 partial accident. he's been dry yesterday and today with me reminding him minimally!! he even survived a car ride and a visit to some friends house. fingers crossed for a good week at school!

2) some of this...

yay for getting projects on our (my) huge list done! it's all things that need to be done, but i can't do. lane fixed the water spots on the boys' ceiling and then painted it. he moved the crib to knox's room and moved ledger's big boy bed to he and canon's room. lane even painted the ceiling in knox's room...walls next! he cleaned up our yard. he also fixed the spots i made ALL over our living room walls (to my credit, i was trying to be helpful and touch up spots, but the paint sample i got wasn't the exact match). thanks, lane, for working hard on your days off!

3) unfortunately, a little bit of this...

saturday, around lunch, canon started feeling crummy and had a low grade fever. i gave him some motrin and he took a nap. when he woke, his fever was down and he was in great spirits. we went to some friends house for dinner where he ended up feeling terrible again. he looked awful and was warm. when we got home, he pepped up a bit, but had 103*+ fever. this morning, he felt good, but was still running low fever so we stayed home from church. i'm assuming it's just viral since he doesn't have any other symptoms and seems to feel ok this evening. he hasn't been sick since april. may be the longest streak yet!!

4) threw some of this in...

last week, lane came home from doing the yoga P90x video and showed the boys some of his moves! today, canon requested that they do some yoga :)

5) hit this sweet milestone...

ledger's been taking naps in his big boy bed (in the spare room) now for a month. he's done great...goes right to sleep and lays in bed until we come get him. since we moved beds around this weekend, we figured why not just let him go ahead and start sleeping in the big bed at night, too. i don't want him to feel like we kicked him out of the crib for the new baby so this way he has plenty of time to adjust! for the past 2 nights, they've both gone right to sleep and stayed in their own bed.

side story: i shared a room with my sister until i graduated high school. we (i) preferred it that way! i used to get so scared that sleeping 3 feet from her wasn't enough. after she'd fall asleep, i'd sneak into her bed. i have a feeling that canon will be the same way!

6) and this...

yuck. this is the first time in our 5 years of marriage and 6 places we've lived that we've dealt with a mouse. well, that lane's dealt with a mouse. i ran to my bed and had the heebie-jeebies. friday night around 11, we were sitting in the living room when we heard a squeak, squeak and a scratch, scratch. to say i over-reacted would be an understatement! lane made a run to walmart for traps while i camped out in my room with the music loud enough i wouldn't be able to hear that little squeak again. around 12:30, we were in bed (with 2 fans going) and heard the deadly snap. got him.

what's bizarre was earlier that night while picking up the playroom, we noticed dropping like things and had said "tomorrow we need to get mouse traps just in case". i spent a good chunk of saturday cleaning and vacuuming every evidence of a mouse away. now, i'll know if his friends make an appearance! once again, thanks, lane! i couldn't even look at its dead self. yuck.

that's it. hope it was restful for you and your family :)

If you were a mouse, wouldn't you want a toy jungle like yours to hang out in??

Just sayin'....
