knox's birthday...

3:20...eeesh. It's early

4:50...in the car on our way! I grossly underestimated how much time we would need this morning. I'm really nauseated. I don't think I'm nervous. Excited!

5:10...also underestimated all the construction in the parking lot/building. I guess we should've done a drill. All checked in. Just waiting for a nurse to come get us

5:45...headed back and signed/answered my life away!

6:30...pitocin started. Feeling so nauseous. Now the waiting starts!

7:30...new nurse came in and started penicillin. She's wonderful. I'm always thankful for sweet nurses :) waiting on the dr to come in and check me.

7:50...dr came in. Dilated to 3. In order to get the antibiotics, I'll get an epidural at 10 then we will break water soon after that. Then baby will prob be a couple more hours.

9:20...I am a wuss. And am ok with that! 40 more minutes until my epidural. The boys and grandmas are on their way up.

10:10...epidural! Sweet relief :)

10:35...3-4cm. Still pretty thick.

10:55...resident came to break water. Still feeling contractions. Got another dose of med.  Dr says a good 5cm.

11:20...another dose.

11:25...after being increasingly nauseated all morning, i got sick. Lots. But I feel better. Zofran.

12:30...checked, still a 5, but thinner. More antibiotics. So sleepy.
Still don't have good relief from contractions in my lower stomach.

1:50...my dr called and wanted an update so another nurse came to check and, surprise, I'm a 9!

2:00...feeling the contractions full force down low. Nurse thinks he's sitting on pubic bone.

2:30...waiting for dr. Nurse can see his head! I'm having to breathe through every contraction. Holy moly...I'm a wuss with pain. numb everywhere but lower tummy...yowzer.

2:45...dr is here and starting pushing. Pushing against the contractions feels so good. (side story: when our dr was walking into the hospital, he passed the waiting room and saw lane's brother, tyler. the dr said to him, "hey moss, you better get back there for delivery." tyler says he must've been looking at dr. n like a crazy person. when dr. n got to my room, he realized what he had done! we all laughed)

2:50...3 contractions later-Knox is here! It took him awhile to cry, but he let us have it after a few minutes.

2:53...dr  examined the placenta. So cool! Got to see the old, problem-causing clots.

3:00...skin to skin! He latched right on and went to town. Nursed for 20 minutes.

3:45...canon and lane watching the nurse bathe Knox. Canon hasn't stopped talking to/about his brother. I can't stop smiling at my sweet family!

4:00...I'm all cleaned up! Our nurse has been wonderful. Knox is getting his assessment by the nursery done. so thankful they do it in the room

4:15...family is coming back to meet him. Of course, they love him! (aunt lala had to work, amy and drew came up the next day, and uncle pickle had to leave before the nurse was finsihed with knox)

4:45...moved to post-partum room

5:15...everyone is leaving. so nauseated.

5:30-bedtime...I have felt awful. I've been nauseated all day but seems worse this evening. Definitely, have the stomach bug. Looks just like when the boys had it last week. I'm also cramping really bad, but can't turn off the pitocin until I can get up to the bathroom. BUT my darn right leg won't un-numb! I'm pitiful.

11:00...finally got to the bathroom despite the bum leg. Lane just carried me, essentially! Got to brush my teeth and wash my face...ahh! Nursing this sweet boy and going to try to sleep.

we had such a pleasant hospital stay. because i was group b strep +, we had to stay until knox was 48 hours. on tuesday morning, i was FINALLY able to shower and wash my hair. after getting sick during delivery, i could not take a shower soon enough, but until i could stand on my own, they wouldn't let me. by 8 am, i felt like a new woman. we had lots of family and friends stop by throughout the day. it was wonderful visiting with them and showing off our new, sweet boy! we also had lots of food and drinks brought up throughout the day :) wednesday was spent getting some much needed rest. we finally went home around 4:30 that afternoon. i remember just feeling so blessed at the thought of my family of 5 (that sounds like alot!!) as we pulled away from the hospital! i will never forget the sweet memories we made those couple of days.

a few more pics from the hospital...

steelers were on monday night football so we dug our gear out for the occasion :)
