spring break...

lane spends every spring break in chicago with the youth group so we usually head to muskogee. this year, i was going to make the trek to arkansas to visit both sides of my family, but both of my grandmas were out of town the entire week so we decided to just wait. last minute, we decided to head to dallas to visit my sister and her husband! i'm so glad we did. i was a little nervous making the trip solo with a nursing baby and a potty-trained little boy, but we just took our time and eventually made it!

nobody could pinch us on st. patty's day!

aunt lala was very excited to have her boys there. after a quick lunch, we headed to the park to burn off some energy. we headed back to their apartment after awhile for naps. canon made it clear he was not going to be taking a nap so lauren and kyle took him to another park to feed the ducks and play while the rest of us sleepy heads napped. (does driving make anyone else soooo tired?? geez, i was worthless) we ate some yummy mexican food for dinner and settled down to watch the descendants after the littles were asleep.

lauren had to work from 7-3 sunday morning so after getting up and around, the boys and i headed to target to do what we do best...browse. around lunchtime, we headed home for sandwiches and a nap. we were excited to find aunt lala was already home when we got up. we decided to do an early dinner then go to lauren's 2 favorite stores, tj maxx's and home goods. i tried to get a good pic of my handsome boys before, but canon was being ornery...imagine that. he was trying his darndest not to smile, but...

aunt lala broke him!!

when i'm in dallas, it's a given that i'll want to eat at saltgrass. so yummy. from the bread and honey butter to the salad to the sweet potato to the heavenly ribeye. oh my!

our dinner dates! kyle had plans that evening.

the boys enjoyed swimming in the big tub every night!

monday we had lauren all to ourselves and we made plans to head to the galleria. my kids love a good mall! this was ollie's typical look when outside. it was so windy and bright!

first stop of the day was in-n-out. i have heard so much about this place since lane first had one in 2005. now lauren and kyle live down the street from one and rave about it. it was so delicious!! i could go for some now...ha!

after hitting all the stores we needed to and finding some good deals, it was finally time to play! they had an awesome playground that was made with that hard foam stuff. the boys climbed and ran their little hearts out.

this little guy did so good the whole trip. he spent quite a bit of time in his car seat, but it didn't bother him. he really is a flexible, content baby!

before leaving the mall, we made a stop at the candy store. aunt lala spoils these boys rotten. she always has some kind of treat for them. i love this picture of them checking out their goods!

early tuesday morning was when we planned on leaving since lauren had to work all day then had an interview after work. for days, the weathermen had been calling for days of rain. it had started monday night and had yet to stop. we decided to leave later in the morning to avoid the heavier rain and traffic (that makes me a nervous wreck). we got away about 10 and had a great trip back. no rain until the last 30 minutes and only 2 stops. thank goodness, for dvd players! (thanks, kyle and lauren, for hosting our wild selves! we always have so much fun. the boys love the constant attention and i enjoy the break! we love you both :))

the highlight of wednesday was haircuts for all. the hairdresser i've gone to since 7th grade just opened a new, super nice salon so we were excited to go try it out! the even bigger news of the day was the return of the combover. oh how it suits him so well!

the boys played with oomah, pops and uncle pickle that afternoon while i enjoyed a little pampering. i wish i could pay shelly to wash and style me everyday...so relaxing!

we had a playdate scheduled with nora, cordie and miss eden thursday morning. since it was still raining (day 4 for oklahoma), we went to "oomah's church" (what canon calls the church that both of lane's parents work out. he calls the house where they both live "pop's house!) to play in the preschool area. they LOVE playing with their nora girl! i loved getting to hang out with eden, too, who is one of my sweetest friends!

friday was spent getting our stuff washed and ironed and somewhat together and, also, putting my mom's house back together. amazing how fast we can destroy things. when my mom got off of work, we loaded up and headed to tulsa for dinner and target! the boys love being out and about.

saturday morning, the sun was finally shining and the ground was almost dry so we headed to the park. i was so excited for the boys to finally get to play on this awesome playground again!

can you tell slide races are on of their fav activities?!

gram worked with canon on trying to teach him how to pump his legs on the swing.

this kid did a good job at looking cool!

while everyone napped that afternoon, i put together 2 trikes that my  mom got them at target the night before. we thought they would be able to reach these peddles since the seat adjusts as well as you can add blocks to the peddles. canon could reach pretty well. he just had to learn how to peddle and keep the momentum going.

ledger couldn't reach, but he didn't mind. he looked awesome scooting along with his upside down glasses! we loaded up and headed home shortly after. we were so happy to see our daddy! 8 days without him is too long! i should mention that chloe wasn't home while we were there because she got to go to the beach for 8 days with a friend. we missed her being there, but i'm so glad she was able to go have fun!

(thanks, gram, for letting us literally take over your house! we are a circus. we looked forward to spending our evenings with you. thank you for all the yummy dinners. i appreciate you helping out with the boys, too! we love you)

(thank you, oomah, pops, and uncle pickle for playing with my kiddos while i got to relax! they LOVE playing at your house! we love you all)
