a boy mom...

today, i'm linking up with kelly's korner for "show us your life: boy moms connect." i'm so excited to find new mommy blogs who live similar lives as me!

i am one of 3 girls and 8 of my 10 cousins are girls. i was the definition of a girly girl growing up...i loved dress-up, make-up, playing baby dolls/house (until i was 12...ha), bows in my hair until 5th grade, hated being dirty, and the list goes on. when i pretended, i always had little girls. it didn't help that i was 13 when we adopted my baby sister and i got to play dress-up with a real life baby. i always envisioned having my own baby girl! my husband is one of 4 boys and he has numerous boys cousins. lane is the epitome of all things boy!

fast forward to my grown up life when my husband and i found out that our first baby was a boy. i was shocked...and, honestly, terrified! i remember tearing up as we were driving away from our ultrasound. i voiced that i had no clue how to raise a boy or what to do with him. i can still hear lane's answer in my head so clearly 4 years later. he said, "boys are SO easy. you stick them in the backyard with a stick and they will entertain themselves for hours." it's so true!

of course, once canon was born, i fell madly in love with him. i slipped into the role of being his mom rather easily. when we found out we were expecting #2, i was at peace knowing i could handle a boy or a girl and would love either one until it hurt, but i still held out hope for a little girl. when we found out it was another boy, i quickly fell in love with him and the idea of he and his brother being the best of buds.

last spring, we found out we would be adding a third baby to our family. this time around, lane and i actually voiced we would love to have another boy for several reasons. a few being that we LOVE boys and have found our boys to be pretty easy. also, it would be more cost effective since everything baby we had was for boys! our doctor had us believing we would be having a girl for 2 weeks and that made me nervous since by that point, i was so used to boys. obviously, we would have LOVED a little girl to pieces and lane would be an AMAZING girl dad! at my next appointment, it was confirmed that we would be adding another little boy to our family. i had an immediate peace. a boy mom i would be and i loved that thought!

canon is our oldest and will be 4 next month. ledger is 2.5. they are 2 days shy of 18 months apart. this freaked me out at first, but has been just the best thing. i love watching their friendship blossom. they are inseparable. knox is our 3 month old baby. he and ledger are 25 months apart. i always say how thankful i am for god's perfect timing. i would not have planned having my kids this close together, but it has worked out great. i, also, wouldn't trade my boys for anything. we live in a constant state of superheroes, balls and dirt! i so love that god knew just what our family needed. you can read in the sidebar more about each boy!

thanks for stopping by!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and reading our boys edition post from Kelly's Korner! Your boys are precious! I (Amber) remember feeling the same way when I found out our first child was a boy (he is 4 also). I remember sitting in the waiting room and looking at my husband and saying I don't know what to do with a boy. Once he was born I would not have had it any other way!! He is such a blessing. My best friend (we co-blog), Ann Kelly, is the one who wrote the article about the parties and she has just her little red headed wonder who is full of energy and is all boy.

Stopping by from Kelly's Korner. My husband and I grew up in the exact same situation as you and your husband did. My family was all girls and his was all boys. We are excepting our first little boy in July. At first I was a little unsure, but the more time that passes the more excited I get. So thanks for sharing!
