easter weekend: part 2.

this morning we actually didn't have to rush around too much since we just had a late service at church. however, lane still had to be there earlier so like all sunday mornings, i get us all ready and out the door by myself. i'm usually panting and sweaty by the time i get there...ha!

while the boys were eating there breakfast, i was talking to them about easter. they made me smile and i know their heavenly father was beaming at their childlike faith. i asked them what easter meant. ledger answered (emphatically and loud), "jesus is alive!" i asked them where jesus lives. canon said, "heaven. and one day, we go see him there." i told him, "yes, if you love god with your whole heart." to which he replied, "i love jesus and god." love their sweet hearts! all day canon has been singing "jesus is alive" and "sing hosanna, sing hosanna to the king of kings."

before leaving the house, i tried to get a few pictures of the boys. i've come to grips with the fact that i'm not going to get a "perfect" posed pic everytime. lane helped me embrace this stage they're in! ledger has the most awkward cheese smile and is constantly fiddling with his hands or moving. knox is 3 months...enough said. canon is either refusing to smile or just being goofy.

happy 1st easter, little man! he looked so sweet in his little john-john.

we had a wonderful easter service. i love my church family so much and love being with them especially on holidays! i've really enjoyed studying about the the easter story this year. i feel like i've seen it in a new light.

after church, we ran home, changed clothes, picked up some charlie's chicken and headed to the park for a picnic. it was a beautiful outside when we left church, but was getting pretty cloudy by the time we got to the park. before the boys ate, i had lane try to get a few more attempts at pics from yesterday. we had much better luck today. i'll make sure to show them when he works them up. or maybe i should just learn photoshop!

it was so nice just sitting around with my guys. we took our time and enjoyed each other. ollie may have had a tiny taste of mashed potatoes, thanks to his dad! he liked looking at the trees. i couldn't get over how blue his eyes looked today. it's strange having a light-eyed baby since the 4 of us all have super dark brown eyes. i LOVE his eyes though!

after lunch, we did a bit of playing...

we got home around 3 and everyone laid down for a nap. when canon and i woke up, it was 6! oops. this weekend wore us all out. i feel like this is the first holiday i didn't stress myself out trying to meet my own expectations. we just enjoyed being with each other. we haven't dyed eggs yet, but we plan to tomorrow. we will also be hunting eggs probably every day this week! they love that. i have no groceries so lane got creative with our pancake dinner. the night was topped off with a glow stick bath. what a beautiful day celebrating our savior!

i love my sweet little family so much! random thought: i always say "little family", but then it dawned on me the other day that we are a family of 5. that's a lot! crazy how much has changed in the last 5.5 years. i wouldn't trade it for anything, though :)

Love those pics you got of them on the couch together! Such a sweet trio. And Ledger's pose in the picture with you just makes me smile. Glad you had a blessed Easter with your "little" family! :)
