weekend...

thursday evening, some of our very favorite people came to town to hang out! we got two sitters and left our 5 kids in good hands while we had a much needed night out. we ended up eating dinner at genghis grill and then headed to see the hunger games. lane and i are on the last book and are enjoying them. the movie was good, but the book is way better...as is always the case for me.

levi and eden and their sweet girls got to stay 2 nights with us. it's ridiculous how much we laugh when we are together. so thankful for them! that night i started feeling crummy. i had a sore throat and a cough, but also started feeling like mastitis was coming on again. when i woke up friday morning, i had a fever, chills and body aches that got increasingly worse through the day.

lane and levi's papa has recently been diagnosed with end-stage cancer so we had been planning to go see he and nana friday in joplin. i had every intention of getting pictures with him, but between him sleeping pretty much the whole time we were there and me feeling awful and laying on the couch all afternoon, we didn't. i'm sad about that. before leaving that morning though, we did make a short video to compile with all of lane's other cousins to show at his funeral. here's a screen grab of probably take 10! the boys' wore their cardinal jerseys since that's papa's favorite team. he smiled when he saw them. 

we ended up leaving about 4 that afternoon along with levi and eden. nana sent food home with us for dinner and it was a huge blessing since i couldn't get home to my bed fast enough. i took a hot shower, took my meds and went to bed by 9:30. at some point during the night, my fever broke, but i still got up early saturday morning and headed to urgent care for the mastistis and cough/sore throat. urgent cares are brilliant! i did indeed have "a more severe case of mastitis" (duh) and an upper respiratory infection. they gave me a shot to jump start feeling better along with another antibiotic. the nurse told me to stop pushing her hand away. had know idea i was. i hate shots!

when i got home, everyone was up and getting ready to load up again for stillwater to help celebrate miss ella's 3rd birthday! she had a minnie mouse party at her church's preschool so there was lots of fun stations to play at. sweet cousins.

after the other guests left and it was just family, we grilled out and the kids played on the playground. my boys loved the sandbox. they had sand in every crevice of their bodies and their jeans. good thing they're still at an acceptable age to run around bottomless in public!

we headed home around 2. lane sat in the back with the boys to keep them from going to sleep so we could all take a much needed nap after getting home. we had to wake up everyone at 5 to head to another birthday party. our friend, caleb, turned 16 this weekend! they catered olive garden and it was yum! we stayed for about an hour, but before we left, lane and i took advantage of this...

yesterday, we went to church then got some much needed rest. i love a fun, family/friend-filled, full weekend, but boy do i poop out fast! hope yours was fantastic, too :)
