camp...

this past week, we got to go with lane to camp while he spoke to a group of middle schoolers. a friend of his from college had asked him to speak to his group of 300ish for the week and invited us to come along! we jumped on board immediately. we've never gone on any sort of getaway that's just our little family. i knew the boys would LOVE being outside for 3.5 days. i knew i would love being served cafeteria-style food (not even kidding), three times a day! the camp was really nice and the cabins had just been remodeled. it had a queen bed and a 3-high bunk bed. the boys just shared the bottom bunk. howeve, they did enjoy playing on the other levels!

after breakfast each morning, the students would have their quiet time and then small group time. lane and knox would head back to the cabin for him to work on his sermon for the night and the boys and i would go have our "bible time" and do some good 'ol piddling. we went exploring. we went on adventures. we played. we pretended. we would then go to the morning show session that was worship, games and missions. when that was over, we would go our separate ways again until lunch. it was such a sweet time with my big boys! they are fun to hang out with.

wednesday was pretty hot and the boys were itching to get in the pool. we told them after their nap that they could go. lane went to hang out with students then we met him at the pool. this was knox's first pool experience. he looked adorable in his get-up!

he wasn't fond of it at first. the water was pretty cold, but once he got used to it, he let us put him in his seat where he laid back and enjoyed floating!

looking dapper for supper...where canon proceeded to dump a bowl of chocolate pudding in his lap!

the boys were a hit with all of the students. ledger was quite the ladies man since he would hug anyone who asked. canon was a little more shy. he was generous with the high-fives, though! these girls reminded the boys of aunt chloe. they were sweet!

canon LOVED the worship times. he would dance and sing and do all the motions with such enthusiasm. ledger pretty much just took it all in! of course, by the time we were done singing, sitting still was the last thing they wanted to do. we would only made it 5 minutes into lane's sermon each night before we would have to go outside. the youth minister's wife and 2 girls were there for the week, also, so it was fun to hang out with kaitlyn during these times.

"mom, watch this. it's my silly face."

this boy had sticks, rocks or dirt in his hands at all times.

we spent wuite a bit of time on this train. isn't it the cutest?! it was the dinosaur train to my guys. i just love experiencing their imaginations and the sweet conversations that they have.

we did lots of horse gazing. this was ledger's favorite. he kept calling it a cow!

the last day we were there started out beautiful, but by naptime, turned pretty cold and rainy. after they woke up, i was trying to pack and keep them entertained inside while lane had a meeting. they asked for a snack and by this point, we had depleted our snack supply. so what do i do? give them a slice of bread. tackiest snack ever!

umbrella sword-fighting.

their new, sweet friend, tenley! she is 21 months and the boys just adored her. when she would see the boys, she'd want to hug them. my boys are really into "group hugs" so this is what would happen when they saw tenley. every time.

and here's my awesome husband at "work". i just want to brag on him. he is such a hard worker for our family. he's also an amazing husband and dad. like above and beyond amazing. no matter how tired he is after work, he comes home and is intentional about being energized to play with the boys and help me out. he is the most selfless person i know. and all the kids and sponsors at camp loved him. he made people feel special by remembering their names and giving them high-fives. he is a great communicator and i love getting to hear him speak (even though i didn't really get to hear him this week). god uses him all the time to speak to me. lane moss, you rock! i love you ;)

it was a wonderful few days unplugged. i loved being out in god's creation spending time with my family. it was funny as we drove away and our phones finally had service. the phones freaked out and buzzed for like a minute! i've always known i like a simple life, but i'm so not a country girl. but i think i could handle living out there. i think. mainly, just because i didn't see any snakes or weird spiders!
