6 months old...

oh.my.word! ledger, tell me it's not true that time has really flown by as fast as it apparently has. the pessimist in me is already dreading that i only have 6 more months of you as a "baby". i can't tell you how much joy and love you bring to our family. i am so amazed by god in him knowing the perfect personality to give you that meshes so well with the rest of the family. here's a little of what you've been up to:

  • i would describe your personality as laid-back still, but you can definately hold your own! you are a squealer and like to talk. your voice isn't as deep as brothers. you smile pretty easily. it usually only takes a look or us saying 'hi, ledger'. now you make us work for your laughs. i guess you would be considered a silent laugher!
  • you only cry when you're hungry, sleepy or are tired of playing by yourself. you still don't travel well for extended time periods in your carseat, and are quick to let us know about it.
  • you chew on EVERYTHING! everything goes right to your mouth...fists, toys, paper, hair, toes. whatever you can find. and whatever you are able to get to your mouth ends up soaked. you've become quite the drooler!
  • you still spit up quite a bit. thankfully, you give us a warning gag before it comes, but rarely, am i prepared with a towel. between spitting up and having diaper explosions, you keep me hopping on the laundry! i'm hoping once you start solids, that your diapers will solid-up :) we've had carpet for a month now, and you finally broke the no-stain rein. you had the worst explosion ever, then preceded to roll around it. my floor was stamped every 8"! the stains came out, thankfully.
  • you are freakishly strong! and quick. it's hard to remember to keep things out of your reach. you strike with lightening speed. i had to cut my hair off this month because of the constant pulling and chewing on it :(
  • you are a officially a mobile baby! you can roll from one side of the room to the other so fast. you also have been sitting up for the past month!! it seemed like it happened over night. we weren't expecting it! it didn't take you long to learn how to catch yourself if you were about to fall. and if this hasn't been a big enough month, for the past 2 weeks, you've been rocking back and forth on all four's. it'll definitely be only a matter of time before your crawling. slow down, please :(
  • diaper changes/bathing/getting dressed all still pose a challenge. you are so wiggly and strong that it's hard to hold you down. i'm trying to find a seat for the bath tub that you can sit up in securely.
  • you moved to a big boy room this month :( i missed you, but you started sleeping so great...like 12-13 hours! you're still in the pack-n-play, but we have plans this next month to move you into the crib and canon into a big boy bed. we'll see how sharing a room goes.
  • you lay down between 8 and 9 each night, then nurse between 8 and 9 the next morning. it's wonderful! most of the time, i lay you back down until about 10:30 then you lay down with canon around 1:30-2 for 2-3 hours with a 30-45 minute nap around 6, but if i keep you up in the morning, you lay back down around 10ish for an hour to an hour and a half nap. your schedule works great for us, and mommy is still able to have a few hours in the afternoon while you both nap.
  • you are sooo ready to eat solids! you constantly watch us while we eat, and try to grab at our food, but the doctor suggested waiting until 6 months. plus, exclusive nursing is so easy when not at home! i'm going to try my hand at making homemade baby food.
  • you are down to nursing 5 times a day. i love it so much, and am so thankful it is going so well. my supply has been great this time around, and you growing wonderfully! i can still pump 8-10 ounces each morning.
  • you have graduated to size 4 diapers. i was trying to wait on canon, but he still needed 3's so off you went. i'm frustrated that we are still having so many explosions, but at least the diaper fits with extra room. you still poop 2-4 times a day!
  • you wear 6-12 month bottoms, 12-18 month tops, 6-12 month one pieces, and size 2 shoes. you could totally go up a size in the tops and one pieces if you had to. both you and canon have long torsos!
that's a glimpse into what you were like as a 6 month old. can't wait to see what you'll be doing by this time next month! wll, maybe i can wait :) each stage you go through just gets better and better. we love you so much, sweet boy!

love,
mommy
xoxo
