i'm a wuss...

i'll be the first to admit! always have been, more than likely always will be :) so with that being said, i'll fill you in on our morning. oh yeah, and i feel i must confess, we sleep with a night light in our room at my insistence!

ledger has been doing wonderful sleeping an 11-12 hour stretch each night, but this morning around 4:30, he woke up and cried and cried so i got him up and started nursing him. while laying there, i could see out of the bottom of the blinds, and even though there was light in our room, i could see shadows that were moving fast. i woke lane up and told him to put his glasses on to look out and see if there were people out there or if it was just the bushes blowing. yes, my rational (or irrational, however you see it) thinking instantly assumed there were a bunch of people outside my window. he said it was just the wind.

i finished feeding ledger and lane took him to hold him for a minute since he hadn't seen him but for a few minutes yesterday. we probably sat there 5 minutes just talking to and making ledger laugh. i turned the lamp off, and was about to take ledger back to his room when we heard a noise that sounded like throwing a penny in a running motor. lane jumped up and figured out it was rain on the roof and we were hearing it through the attic fan. all 3 of us went to the living room. lane opened the blinds wide open. it was raining and blowing so hard that we couldn't even see across the street. i was panicking trying to get the tv on, but of course the satellite was out. darn satellite. i love it except when there's storms. i tried getting on the internet but by this time, the power was flickering so it kept restarting the modem. finally, the satellite came on, and the weather was on. they were saying straight line winds at 90mph. it was obviously a fast moving, strong storm. in 5-10 minutes, it was over, and we went back to bed.

once i got up, i found out that it did a lot more damage than we knew. 50,ooo people were without power around where we live. tulsa schools were out. trees were down everywhere. the news actually just said that it was in fact a f-2 (110-130mph) tornado.

that was our exciting morning! lane would probably say it wasn't as bad as i've made it sound, but it was :) so much that the news has been on all morning recapping it...bliss. i find it interesting that every region of the country has its common weather problems, and tornadoes are our reality. if i had to choose the perfect weather spot to live, i think i would prefer mountain living in colorado. temps would be awesome spring-fall, and i could have tons of snow in the winter. besides rain, i've never heard of tornadoes up in the mountains, hurricanes, floods, tsunamis, etc...

happy thursday :)

...and tons of snow in the spring. It snowed tuesday night/Wed. morning and we are to have some more tonight. :( However we are east of the front range and get the tornados through here. When we lived in the mountains in Boise, we NEVER had rain. Just snow and no sun. Love how you "paint a picture" when you tell a story.

I'm glad nothing happened in Stillwater because I would've never heard a darn thing...it's nice to sleep like a rock, but also not always a good thing.

I love how you freak out! I don't really know why.

You would love Colorado. Were I am at in Canon City, we don't get any tornadoes!! I always hated tornado season. We have not had to worry one bit here. Everyone here loves hearing our stories of the storms we experienced, because they only have thunderstorms in the month of June.
We are also only an hour and half from skiing!
We love it, but we still miss Oklahoma, I think it is because everyone we love is there.
