prepare yourself for picture overload! we had a very full weekend with lots of things to take pictures of :) friday morning, we headed to stillwater for our neice, ella's, second birthday! we hung out for the day then that evening it was time for her zebra party. my boys LOVED that it was outside. the weather there was beautiful! the kids got to run around and play while drew grilled burgers for everyone...yum.
amy had come up with a game and a craft that were so cute. canon was mr. determination in getting the beanbag through the hole! he was so happy when he finally made it. ledger was more interested in showing pops his belly button! canon made a craft where you put stripes on the zebra by rolling a marble around in a box through a blob of paint. so cute!
the boys' wore their superhero cape t-shirts to the party and lane thought it'd be neat to get a picture of them "flying". he tossed and i snapped! i LOVE these pictures...
of course, every one loved eating cupcakes! i even got miss ella to smile :) pretty sure canon snuck a second one and had it down in no time. ledger ate his with a mighty force, too! that boy is a messy eater. isn't sweet alexis beautiful drinking her juice?
after the party, we drove to muskogee to stay the night. friday night, it rained all night. i ran to get something out of the van saturday morning to find the van door had been left open all night. nice. since it was so yucky outside, oomah let the boys open their easter baskets so they'd have some entertainment. they got hats and jerseys and a cute hat stand. they hid easter eggs and had a ball.
i met up with my mom and sisters then we headed to my fav, harmony house, where we met my mimi, aunt susan, and cousin katie for lunch. they were in town for lauren's shower that afternoon. after lunch, we headed back to their hotel's lobby to visit while we killed time before the shower.
lauren had the cutest shower. it was decorated in her wedding colors complete with zebra! aren't the centerpieces so cute?! the wreaths on the front door were made by one of the hostesses as a gift. i'm trying to lauren into giving me one of them!! the food was delicious. i LOVE shower food! she got so many great things. she pretty much just needs towels, sheets and silverware. the kids below are siblings and are the ring bearer (along with canon) and flowergirls. lauren has nannied for them the past few summers.
during the shower, lane had to head back to tulsa for a skit practice that he would be performing during church sunday morning. as soon as he was done, he headed back to muskogee so we could go see the easter play that his brother was in at their church. the boys' hung out at my mom's house with aunt lala and our out of town family! they dyed easter eggs, ate pizza, practiced walking down the aisle for the wedding, and had too much playing. they LOVE to entertain. thankfully, my family eats it up! we headed back to tulsa that night.
sunday morning, we woke up to more rain. it pretty much rained all of saturday and rained hard most of sunday. i tried to get a few pictures of the boys before church, but you know how that goes! they looked so handsome. i said i wasn't going to buy matching stuff anymore since ledger will most likely wear canon's stuff next year, but i couldn't resist since it was easter. (and , yes, that darn blankie goes EVERYWHERE with us!)
we headed back to muskogee after church for lunch and relaxation. lane's brother, tyler, and his wife, denise, were there and also his grandparents. my mom and sister's also came over for lunch. i had intentions of getting a family picture when we got there while we were still dressed up, but when we got canon out of his seat, he had had an accident and it was chaos in the moments that ensued! we had fried chicken, cheesy mashed potatoes, and baked beans for lunch. we had baked fudge for lunch...prob my favorite dessert EVER! i joked that there were 2 good things about easter...1) jesus is alive and 2) i got to eat baked fudge!
during the shower on saturday, canon and oomah had made a bunny cake. he was so proud! ledger was also a happy camper once his belly was full. he thought zerberts on his neck were pretty funny! we laid ledger down not too long later. canon is flexible when it comes to naps. he had cat napped in the car so we let him stay up. plus, the loads of sugar in his system would've been a losing battle! gram gave canon he and ledger's basket. canon assumed it was all his. he's pretty possessive these days. they scored toy story 3, 2 super annoyingly loud trucks and this racket game. i thought canon looked sweet through the plastic! we hid easter eggs over and over. everytime he would find one of his hard boiled ones, he chuck it in his basket. they smelled awful by the end!
it rained so hard all afternoon. we kept waiting for it to let up. around 7, we decided to just go anyway. lane and canon were loading our car in the garage when canon fell and hit his forehead on the garage floor. lane immediately brought him in, and within literal seconds it had swelled up so big! i looked at it and must've freaked because i only remember lane telling me, "no, hold it together!" i just held him, but everytime i'd look at it, my stomach would turn. right away, he was trying to go to sleep. it didn't help that he was already beyond exhaustion. we kept him awake for an hour and asked him questions and put ice on it, and by the time we left, he was acting fine. he talked and sang the whole way home. we woke him a couple of times through the night and he woke this morning acting like his normal self. it just looks gnarly!
when we got home last night, i realized i had forgotten to give the boys' their baskets from us...and i had left them in muskogee. good thing my kids don't know any better. mom of the year award right here!! dawn brought them to me tonight when we dropped ledger off for the night (canon's surgery is in the morning) so canon was able to see his tonight. i was taking a picture of the baskets and canon ran to get his camera. LOVE when he imitates us! canon got some swim trunks and ledger got a PBK beach towel. i also threw some chalk, bubbles and a lightweight frisbee in. canon was loving the dinosaurs on his "wimboop"!
i'm so thankful for all our blessings. i taught the 3, 4, and 5 year old sunday school sunday morning, and was so grateful for the simple reminder that "the good news is that jesus is alive." it's why we celebrate and why we have hope! i also was reminded over and over this easter what mary went through. i had never viewed it from her perspective before. it was such a beautiful weekend full of memories!
