i picked canon up from school at 1:00 on thursday and we hit the road. i was a little nervous driving 4 hours with a potty training child, a pregnant mommy (whose bladder is tiny!), and the rain. i've always had someone with me to tend to the kids or drive, but i got to do both! i picked him up early from school in hopes that they would both take naps. no such luck...only 20 minute naps! we only had to stop once on the way there. i tried to anticipate any need they would have with a bucket in the front seat that had snacks (already opened), drinks, toys, and movies. we survived!
we spent the first 2 nights at my mamie's. she had a delicious dinner waiting for us when we arrived. the boys loved playing with her and papa john. we are kind of a loud hurricane when we visit others homes :) on friday, we enjoyed a nice, rainy morning/afternoon of visiting. canon and i's allergies went haywire while there and he didn't allow for much sleep despite the benadryl he was on.
that evening, mamie and john had a game they had to work so we headed down to eat with my aunt kim and uncle jim at cracker barrel...yum! i LOVE me some comfort food. we then headed to look at my cousin courtney's super cute house they're overhauling. i wish i had vision with that kind of stuff. it looks like it belongs in a magazine. we then tagged along with them to browse target and hit up old navy for some new jammies for canon. i'm thankful they allowed us to crash their friday night!
i got a surprise saturday morning when my boys (and i) slept until 8:30! don't remember the last time that happened. we ran to panera to indulge in our first cranberry orange muffin of the season. after getting ready and packing up our stuff, it was time to head to "baby ben's" party! it was soooo cute! they had a bouncy house, chick-fil-a and cake...my boys' were in HEAVEN!! ben got lots of fun toys and was so sweet.

after the party, we headed to my mimi's house. my kids instantly made themselves at home throwing decorative lemons around like balls. the boys were anxious to break into their goody bags from the party. those little toys provided more entertainment for my kids this weekend! canon discovered the whoopee cushion and LOVED it. the 2 they had broke so mimi had to take him to buy new ones...spoiled rotten! my cousin, katie, and canon were quite the buddies. he loved her. she was so great with him.
after ledger took a short nap, we headed to dixie cafe (another homecooking favorite of mine) with my aunt susan for dinner. ledger didn't feel great and surprisingly, had no appetite. when we got home, we told the boys they could swim in the jacuzzi tub. pretty sure they could do that everyday!
sunday was a low-key day filled with eating, napping and celebrating katie's birthday! we got up and hit the road around noon on monday. canon shocked me by holding his bladder for 4.5 hours while i made 2 pit stops.
we were all glad to see and hug lane! my kids loved all the attention they received throughout the weekend. thanks to all for having us! we love you, guys :)
