rain boots and the first snow...

the boys got rain boots (and rain coats) for christmas and have been itching to wear them. unfortunately, it hasn't rained since the day knox was born. so instead they run around the house in them, pretending the boots do different things! yesterday after speech, we came home to find ledger looking like this :)

once canon saw ledger in his boots, he had to put his on. they seriously wore them all day long, only taking them off for naptime and church. canon became obsessed with all things fireman about 1.5 months ago so he sports the fireman boots, although at times they are "super fast" boots and basketball boots! ledger now has superman ones. he originally had the cutest batman (he's my favorite superhero!) boots, but they were a size too small so when i went to exchange them, they only had a 7 in superman. thankfully, ledger is so go-with-the-flow that he didn't care. plus, we have always dressed him in superman and canon in batman so i guess it's fitting. when it finally decides to rain, i'll have to get a pic of them in their full get-up!

when we got home from church last night, it had started flurrying. it was so pretty falling and the boys went out with lane to catch some on their tongues! about 45 minutes later after the boys were already in bed, we heard canon playing in the window so lane went in and canon told him that it was snowing on the flowers. lane said "yeah" and tucked him back in. when he came out, he looked outside and we were surprised to see that snow had indeed already covered all grassy areas/roofs on our street. he felt bad for brushing canon off!! 

this morning, the first thing canon said was that he wanted to play outside in the snow. so after they ate breakfast, we bundled them up to play in the first snow (hopefully there will be more!!) of the season. surprise, canon was excited to wear his snow boots. remember this? ledger was just thrilled to get to wear his rain boots outside. canon kept insisting that we buy ledger snow boots "oomorrow".

nothing like playing outside in the freezing cold at 8:30 in the morning! i'm thankful for their fun dad. they played out there for only about 5 minutes before their little hands were too cold. i've got to find some good waterproof gloves for when we get a good snow!! snow makes everything so beautiful and peaceful. sigh.

canon's favorite thing about snow? throwing snowballs at the door! 1, 2, 3...

in other news, ollie slept all night in his own room in his big boy bed for the first time last night! he does great for naps, but after a couple less than restful nights for all of us, we finally decided to make the move. the other boys were 2 and 4 months before the switch was made. we all slept so good. i wasn't waking up with each little squeak/grunt he makes (as cute as they are)! now to figure out how to get him to sleep longer than 3 hours at a time. :)
