today we woke up to about an inch of snow. the boys were very excited about the prospect of snow before bed last night. when i went to let them out of their room this morning, they already had their snow boots on! after breakfast and what felt like forever getting bundled up, it was time to go play.
last winter i saw the idea of painting the the snow with squirt bottles and food coloring. i grabbed a couple of bottles at walmart yesterday. ledger really enjoyed it! i think canon's gloves were to thick for him to be able to squeeze it good. it was cheap entertainment!
next up was building a snowman. lane got home from a breakfast meeting about that time and took over building duties while i fetched the snowman's face!
after all their hard work, it was time to destroy mr. snowman. first, you attack him with sticks. then you push him over followed by giving him the people's elbow. it's all over when ledger sits on you!
of course, throwing snowballs at the screen door is a must for these guys!
they played outside for nearly 45 minutes before they decided they were done. i had a snowman treat and hot chocolate for them. they kept saying, "i like snow donuts." snow donuts they are!
canon decided at halloween he didn''t like chocolate milk, but i gave him some hot chocolate today thinking his tastes may have changed. nope. he asked for his white milk after a sip. what 3 year old doesn't like chocolate in their milk?!
i finally got to sit down with my yummy, most favorite breakfast treat. seriously, i could eat/drink this combo everyday!
mmmmm....
so after our snack, i sat down to put pictures on the computer when i decided to email our local weatherman a pic of the boys' snowman. within a couple of minutes, he emailed me back saying they would show their picture during the 11am midday show. i got really excited! of course, our satellite was being weird. i finally got a signal right as the news was starting. they didn't show it until the very end of the newscast. when the boys saw it, they started jumping up and down saying, "we made it! we made it!" it was fun!
this evening, i made my first ever freezer meal. i usually just make a normal serving then we eat the leftovers a time or 2, but i decided to freeze half of the chicken spaghetti i made tonight. it's nice knowing there's a complete meal ready when i don't feel like cooking!
