the 4th...

our 4th of july celebration started on tuesday, the 3rd, when lauren and kyle flew into town and hung out with us for 24 hours! my dad picked them up from the airport and hung out with us for a few hours.  impromptu dance parties always break out when aunt lala is around!

after my mom got off work, she and chloe came up for dinner. we headed to our favorite patio dining, cafe ole. they also have the BEST cream cheese queso. EVER.

after seeing ledger crack the table up with his orange smile, here's canon's attempt at a silly pic!

the next morning, the boys were up bright and early ready to party! while i started lunch prep, everyone enjoyed popsicles on the porch. this picture screams summertime to me.

since lauren and kyle had to fly out at 3, we grilled out for lunch. we had burgers and hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, watermelon, and chips and dip. easy and yummy. i could totally go for one of those burgers right now! i'm also obsessed with those polka dot napkins from wal-mart. they have different sizes and colors! y'all know i'm a sucker for cute napkins. that's the one thing i'm consistently festive on!

my ghetto attempt at making my favorite, go-to, summer dessert 4th of july-y!

after lunch, we had planned on going to the splash pad, but were running short on time so we made a sad water park in the backyard. fortunately, the boys loved it!

once everyone left, we took long naps. we didn't have any plans for the evening, but knew we didn't want to venture out to a public show with sleepy boys and loud noises. lane thought up the idea to take the boys up to the church gym and let them run their little hearts out. they loved it!

after we all ran around like crazy people for awhile, we went down to the youth building so the boys could have a special dinner/movie night. they thought this was by far the coolest thing we've ever done. i packed them their dinner and we started "the cat in the hat". at intermission, we even had popcorn!

it was such a sweet day with my family. i wish i could say that the boys went home and went right to sleep, but, unfortunately, the fireworks kept canon up for quite awhile! maybe next year will be the year  :)

I've recently started reading your blog. My name is Jennifer Williams and I actually went to school with Lane at OCC. My husband is a part time youth minister at Cedar Ridge. I love your movie night and packed dinners. Super cute!
