catch-up {again}...

i always say i'm not going to get behind on blogging...then i do. and it just hangs over my head. and each night i say i'm going to blog, but then i'm too tired and the thought of catching up overwhelms me. so i don't. makes sense, huh? :) i've been in a funk since getting home 2 weeks ago. i'm so overwhelmed (not just in blogging) that i've let everything get behind. you should see my house right now. it's bad! i would be so embarrassed if anybody stopped by today! but today is the day. i've got motivation surging through me. ha! so now to catch up (in as few words as possible)...

ledger's sunday school teacher gifted us a couple of months ago with a kid's backpack full of camping/adventure toys (complete with a cricket-chirping lantern...that seems to turn itself on all the time!). the boys have LOVED playing with it! most days the tent is set up in the middle of the living room and they "camping" for hours. while playing, lane got in his head to create this campfire. it was awesome. i'm so not creative like this! they used pieces of the train track and drum sticks for the wood, crepe paper for the fire, and the fan as fuel! they then cooked dinner for everyone! sweet memory with their daddy.

on the 3rd, canon had an appointment with the ENT to check his tubes out. it's been 15 months since he got this set. he did so good on his first big boy hearing test. i was so proud of him for listening so well to the tech and doing exactly what she said. the results: his left tube is in and functioning. his right tube was sitting in the canal and he had fluid in that year. the doctor wasn't convinced he needed new tubes just yet since canon had had a cold for the past 2 weeks. he wants to recheck it in 6 weeks and see if it's gone. if not, we will more than likely put more tubes in. he also has mild hearing loss in that ear. not enough to do anything about, but it's there.

on the 5th, knox had his 6 month well-child check. everything was great with no concerns! i'm so thankful! we will be seeing the surgeon next month to see if it's time to repair his hernia. we wanted to wait until after we got back from the beach so we didn't have to worry about keeping it clean while there. it's still as big as ever! thanks to mimi for providing the cute coordinating tops! i can't help myself. i LOVE it!

sweetest baby! he weighed 17lb5oz (45th %ile). he was 27" long (80th %ile). his big 'ol dome was in the 91st %ile! we love everything about this squishy, big-headed baby.

ledger's favorite activity..."group hug". he looks so pleased, doesn't he?!

we got out this toy out that night. i think my big boys loved it even more than knox! they love when we get old toys out that have been put away. they kept knocking knox over trying to get in front of it.

that friday (6th), we kept the greer girls while levi and eden went to the ob to check on miss penny. sweet nora was insistent that we joined them for lunch at chick-fil-a! it was nice because lane and levi had 4/5 of the kids at their table. they seemed a bit frazzled after the meal...ha! eden, cordie and i had a pretty relaxing time. i think we deserved that :)

unfortunately, we didn't get to stay and play because we had to rush off to another hearing test. this time for speech. the results were essentially the same. no big concerns, but she wants to see us again after we see the ENT next month. ledger was excited to see where canon goes every wednesday morning and canon was excited to show him! we spent the rest of the afternoon looking for a "marryin' and buryin' suit" for lane who was officiating a wedding the next day. we got a super deal on a michael kors suit at macy's. i don't think we've ever bought anything in there, but with sales like they were having, we will definitely check it out more often.

as lane was walking out the door for rehearsal that night, we realized the air wasn't working. when we opened the air closet, their was water on the floor. it must've been dripping for awhile because the door had already warped. we also discovered that only half of the power in the house was working. of course it would wait until friday night at 6pm. we called the air people and they were going to send someone out that evening...for an overtime fee, but we couldn't wait until monday. so lane left and the boys and i hung out in front of the fans while having a "whatever was in the pantry" dinner (the fridge, oven and microwave had no power).

once the guy got here, he could not get the power back on to the ac or anything. the breakers didn't appear to be tripped. it was so weird and he couldn't figure it out. he called their on-call electrician to come out and said he would snake the drain that appeared to be clogged and often causes inside dripping in hopes that was what caused the ac to not work. so i paid him and thanked him and he left.

my mom came up as lane was getting home so the big boys and i left with her to go eat a late dinner in a cool place. it was 86 in our house by this point. the electrician called a few minutes later to tell me he was on his way. i called lane to give him a heads up and he said he had just talked to our neighbor that had only partial-power, too. she said pso was on their way out. so i quickly called the electrician to tell him not to come. we thankfully saved $100 on a problem he wouldn't have been able to fix. i called lane at 10:30 to tell him we were on our way home. he said we had just lost all power while they were working, but it should be on by midnight. when we got home, we made a pallet in the living room and put a movie on the ipad for them. they were wound up! about 11:30, it finally all came back on! thankfully, the whole house slept until 8:30...which never happens!

so it turned out to be a weird power thing, but because of it, we discovered the leaky ac. weird timing, but thankful for it because it hadn't leaked out onto the carpet yet. it made for an exciting, hot friday night!

saturday morning, after getting up and around, we headed out to get lane's suit pants hemmed. on the way out of the door ledger asked, "please you take a picture of us?" ha. sweet, sweet brothers!
Photobucket
while we waited for the pants to be done, we ran into dick's sporting goods to piddle around. i'm pretty sure we went up and down every aisle and touched every item in there!
Photobucket
my mom and sister came up to watch the boys so i could go to the wedding, too. they went to the mall for dinner and playtime and then came home for baths. we had a lovely time. we even stopped for sno-cones in our fancy clothes on the way home!
Photobucket
sunday morning, this cutie wore his crab jon-jon that his daddy despises! i think he looks adorable. he's anything, but crabby :)
Photobucket
kenneth and lisa were in the nursery with knox that morning. when i saw what kenneth was wearing, i told him knox had the same outfit! it just so happened that we were going to their house for dinner that night. i couldn't help myself. i totally matched my child to our gracious host! i told y'all...this matching business is a serious problem for me!

sweet hope wanted to hold mr. knox. technically, she could have her choosing of any of the moss boys as she's right in the middle of them, but one way or the other, we're bound and determined to have her as a daughter-in-law!

cutest "just woke up" face ever.

last week was pretty wide open which not much going on. i did start the long process of gathering up clothes to sell at JBF. i ironed and photographed each item for a facebook sale first. it took a lot of time! i've already sold quite a bit over the weekend! the less i have to prep for JBF, the better. canon chose a prize over candy at speech on wednesday. he brought home a green army guy. lane told him he could get the big bucket of army guys out. it entertained them for awhile! i totally had a few andy's mom (toy story) moments though. darn things find their way under your feet fast when there's 100 of them lying around! total boy house around here and i love it :)

knox's version of wrestling. nom. nom. nom.
Photobucket
friday morning, lane went and got donuts. he came home and turned on a recorded football game. he's got football fever bad! he said donuts reminded him of a fall saturday morning. the boys saw the game and freaked out. they ran to get their jerseys!
Photobucket
the next morning they requested to watch "charlie brown christmas". needless to say we are over this heat! we love fall and winter around these parts!
Photobucket
saturday evening, we met lane's parents and my mom and sister at andolini's. lane had been wanting his dad to try it. the boys were jacked up to eat pizza AND hang out with grandparents!

last night, we celebrated our church's 56th birthday with a picnic at the park. it was super hot all day, but by the time we got there, it cooled off quite a bit and turned out to be a really pleasant evening. the boys were excited to play at the splash pad with their friends. we are so blessed to be apart of a wonderful church. such good people!

while there, a couple walked up to me and said, "you're kelli, right? you probably don't remember us." i instantly knew their faces. we went to church with them like 23 years ago. they were my sunday school teachers when i was 4! their daughter babysat us for years and was one of our favorites (she let us sit in her lap and drive up and down our street...ha!). they have lived here for 1.5 years and after trying several churches, randomly ended up at ours about 5 weeks ago. last week, they saw lane talking in big church and knew his name. small world! i LOVE it when that happens. so fun!

look at the muscles on those boys!

whew...all caught up. now off to clean this NASTY house!
