our first week in joplin (plus a few days)...

the weekend we were moving, the boys headed to muskogee for the night so we could make a trip up to joplin and back to drop off our stuff. we had 3 mini-vans (with all the seats removed) packed full! the boys had been excitedly talking about "moving to jop-a-lin". when canon got back to tulsa saturday night and saw our mostly empty house, he lost it. it was the most genuinely sad cry i have ever heard from that guy. it broke our hearts.

by sunday, he had recovered and was back on the joplin bandwagon. after a SUPER sad morning of saying good-bye to our church family at highland park, we cleaned our house and loaded up (packed to the max) to make the 1.5 hour drive up the turnpike. it was weird driving away from tulsa knowing we wouldn't be living there anymore. we LOVE tulsa! we also LOVE a lot of people in joplin. it was bittersweet.

our first week here, it felt like we were just visiting. there was a LOT of unpacking/organizing. the kids and i didn't venture out too much. it was kind of nice to have absolutely nothing to do after such a hectic prior few months. here's some photos to recap that week...

sometime the last resort for the day is to just pack everyone up and head to target. plus, the boys had icee money from dad burning a hole in their pockets!

after a couple of days in town, we found a park!

ah, sunshine and fresh air.

on our 3rd day in town, canon woke up with an upset tummy. thankfully, it only lasted a few hours. his tummy must've known that we were still trying to figure out our new insurance!

delaying bedtime by looking at the baby on the phone!

on thursday of that week, we met up with 2 of our youth group girls who are freshman at ozark. it was SO wonderful seeing familiar faces.

i treasure the innocence of these guys. all they cared about was getting to wear their capes to the park. i pray they stay like this for a few more years! and this is one of my favorite pictures of canon to date.

be still my heart. another favorite. they are the best of friends! on friday, we got out and went to target. target was so nice and familiar. we wandered around for a good 1.5 hours. we then went and picked lane up for lunch. it was strange him having to work on a friday after 4.5 years.

on saturday, we got up bright and early and headed to stillwater to celebrate 3 birthdays! we celebrated hudson's 2nd birthday, mickey mouse style. we also celebrated my mom's and lane's mom's birthdays. they are just 2 days apart. it was a FULL day FULL of sugary treats, but SO much fun.
Photobucket
impossible, i tell you. we took a big family, moss picture, but for some reason it's not on the phone that was used. boo.

side note for my memory: we left stillwater about 8 that night. lane was driving a second car back to joplin so he followed the boys and i. after no naps and lots of playtime for the day, i figured the kids would all crash almost immediately. nope. canon stayed awake the entire 3 hour trip home. he was so sweet and literally talked the whole time. i heard, "remember that time..." and "hey, mom!" over and over. his memory amazed me! needless to say, he fell asleep super fast that night :)
