our week...

we've had a good week around here. this is how it started, sickies and chicken noodle soup (pioneer woman's recipe...so easy and SO good). but good news, we finally overcame whatever sickies that had been tormenting us for over a month!

i made a batch of puppy chow (my best batch ever) on monday night and it was gone by wednesday. i know, i know. it's a serious problem! no idea why lane decided to pose with it...creepily.

on tuesday, we had our first social outing in a 1.5 weeks (aside from the 24 hours in LR). we were pretty pumped about it! lane's MOVE team had a christmas party that we were invited to. LOVE matching plaid.

we found these random, kid-sized aviators at nana's. pretty sweet.

knox is a fan of just about anything he can shovel in his mouth, but he was especially loving the carrots and potatoes from the roast wednesday night. he had 2 big 'ol helpings. so glad his appetite was back!

it's bad when i can't remember what we did on thursday, just 3 days ago. geez. oh, well. moving right along. my dad drove up for a visit on friday morning. he came bearing gifts and the boys were fired up about it!

so glad to have these again. it's been a long 3 months since ours bit the dust.

he also brought whoopie cushions and introduced them to silly string. my guys were LOVING these things!!

on friday night, lane had his big, work christmas party. nana had choir rehearsal so we lined up one of our babysitters from tulsa who now lives in joplin. it was great seeing her and the boys talked about her non-stop saturday morning. after a good 'ol time of eating and playing a strange spades-bunco card game with about 125 people (which turned out really fun), we headed home and relieved ashlee. nana was home then and offered to stay with the boys who were sleeping so we could go out.

now this will shock those who know me best, but i had not started my christmas shopping at this point...for a couple of reasons, but we decided to knock out as much as we could before most of the stores closed at midnight. it was a super fun date to me and lane was very patient. we had fun and probably knocked out 50% of our list.

i have a bad habit of not picking up stuff when i see it at a freakishly good price, knowing i'll be buying it soon anyway. you would know the ONE thing ledger has talked about wanting santa to bring him for months, i couldn't find anywhere. i saw it at wal-mart a couple of weeks ago for $20, but he was with me. so friday night, we went all over looking for it and everyone was sold out. i panicked when i saw the only place online that had it still wanted $65 for it. you'll be glad to know that we secured a "space rocket ship" thanks to my mom and the muskogee wal-mart saturday morning! whew.
saturday morning, we woke up bright and early to run to tulsa for the day. a sweet lady at our old church had passed away and lane was going to the funeral. we decided we would make a family day of it to finish shopping, check on/clean the house (turns out when it's closed up for days it doesn't get dusty. i was so impressed!), and visit some friends.

my guys say, "orange ya glad it's saturday?!"

while lane was at the funeral, we stopped at panera for "breakfast snack" as ledger kept calling it. we then strolled around the shopping center and crossed a few things off our list! i really love tulsa. it was fun to be back in the big city for a bit.

the funeral lasted a couple of hours so when we picked lane up, it was definitely lunch time. he chose pei wei, which shocked me. we both like it, but i thought he would've picked somewhere local. however, we don't have pei wei in joplin so it was a great choice! canon insisted on using his chopsticks so therefore ledger did, too! canon did a good job. ledger was just entertaining :)

when i walked in my house, i got all sappy. i miss a lot of things about it, including my comfy, new couch! however, we are SO thankful that nana has let us stay with her. i have NO idea what we would've done! on that note, why won't someone buy it?! it's just lovely...and perfect for a little family like ours!
Photobucket
we then stopped by the jennings for a bit to catch-up. it was so great to see their family as well as shanna! i miss them so much. the boys were glad to their hopie, too :)

on the way back into joplin we stopped for a late dinner at qdoba. you can't beat $1.50 kid meals with my hungry little hippos!

this morning, we went back to church (after being gone for 3 weeks and then having sick kids the past 2 weeks). i just love it and am so thankful to have an immediate peace about it! i got called out of church...again. mr. knox is not loving the nursery these days AND he's teething like a mad man. not a good combo for those sweet workers! i did end up in the cry room and got to meet some very kind women, though. i've totally just accepted this phase of life we are in with little kiddos and am soaking up every second of it, especially in light of this weekend's tragedy. those sweet angel babies. :(

lane's cousin, logan, (uncle logan according to the boys. it's sweet. he really is like their beloved uncle) spent the day with us while his sweet wife and baby were traveling. after church, we came home to stew in the crockpot. i HEART crockpot cooking!

this evening, nana sang in our church's christmas program. almost all of our joplin family were able to be there which she just loved! i was nervous taking the boys, but just decided if they got too crazy, we'd go to the hall. they did really well. they stayed quiet, they were just super wiggly! knox was quiet as long as he had a mum-mum in hand! at the beginning of the service, we were all being sweet. by the end of the service, the thigh squeezing and bulging eyes/pursed lips on my part had started! canon was sweet and insisted he bring his binoculars so he could see nana on stage. i thought that was clever of him to think of! we moved the party to culver's for burgers and shakes afterwards. it was a fun evening!

while ledger was getting in bed tonight, he kept telling me something that i was just not following. finally, he said, "like this" and he bowed. it was so cute. so i had him do it again for the camera. love that boy!

looking forward to a fun week ahead. let the festivities begin!
